Striving to provide the care you deserve.
Who Am I?
My name is Meghan. I’m a clinical psychologist licensed in Colorado, California, as well as a PSYPACT provider. I’m here to help you reach your goals!
I completed my doctorate degree at Alliant International University (San Diego, CA) in 2010. I have been licensed since 2011. Throughout my training and work in the field thus far-I have focused primarily on the community mental health setting, prioritizing my work with individual’s who presented with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI). These opportunities have allowed me to work with individuals who presented with wide range of mental health challenges-including, but not limited to: Depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar disorder, addiction, trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, relationship challenges, grief/loss, identity challenges, self-esteem, and aging. Additionally, during my tenure at Well Power (formerly known as the Mental Health Center of Denver), I also served in the role of the primary supervisor for the pre-doctoral students for our adult population outpatient clinic.
I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and have received a certification in serving the older adult population. Due to my desire to expand my knowledge, I left the community mental health setting to pursue group private practice-which had an emphasis on health psychology. This experience assisted me gaining additional expertise around chronic illness, medical diagnoses, end of life, aging, and working with caregivers. I have worked with adults across the life span and have a particular interest in working with older adults. I have extensive experience and expertise in working with anxiety, trauma, depression, relationship issues, self-esteem, grief/loss, providing care giver support, life transitions, women’s health, and the challenges that can come with aging.
My Approach
Therapy is a collaboration and I tailor each interaction to meet your unique situation and life experience.
My approach is to work with you to identify your current symptoms, challenges, and potential stuck points in life. I take the time to get to know you as a whole person (this can take 3 sessions or more) as the collection of your life experiences thus far have all had an impact on how you are presenting in your current phase of life. Sometimes we need to learn new strategies for managing symptoms/stressors, sometimes we need to address underlying trauma, sometimes we just need support during a stressful time, and other times we need guidance around how to get “unstuck.”
I work with you to define the changes you want to make and that becomes the goals of our work together. I am also a strict believer in that we do not need to over-pathologize some of our responses to stressful events. I pull from my experiences and training in evidenced based practices such as EMDR, CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and ACT to assist you in reaching your goals.
Finally, an important part of the therapeutic process is how you apply what we discuss in sessions outside of our work together. As I always say-most of life happens outside of session. I emphasize the mind-body connection to work towards change and maintain those changes.
One final note, during our consultation and/or intake-we will both be assessing if we are the right fit for one another. If I feel that I am not the best fit for your needs, I will let you know and assist you in locating other providers who may be a better fit.
